Prettie Wednesday Wishing Jessie Well

Our wonderful DT Coordinator Jessie had some oral surgery earlier this week, so we thought we'd all try to cheer her up with some get well cards this week! As usual, our hop begins with the Prettie Mama, and ends with our fabulous Jessie...and I'm somewhere in the middle. Jessie was the challenge issuer for this week's challenge, and she gave us this awesome sketch to use! I love sketch challenges, because for me they take all the work out of cardmaking, and leave the fun! I used some dp I found in my scrap bin to make this little 4.25" square card, and I thought our little Cuddle Me Sophia would be perfect for helping Jessie feel better. Since most of my house is still in boxes, I was a little hard pressed to find what I wanted, so had to use some Robin's Nest baubles. Howdy Prettie Peeps!

Howdy folks...hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are now fully recovered!
Today's card uses a technique that the amazing Frances used on a card she sent me...and I just had to copy her!! It's called the Bandanna technique, and I think it turned out fabulous!

Of course I had to use our little Howdy Girlfriend Sophia in her fabulous boots. I used some denim designer paper I picked up at a local stationary store, and stamped the SU! paisly background on it, which I then added all the fun white dots to. The brads are from the Target $pot, and the gingham ribbon is SU! I paper pieced Sophia's skirt and hat with the denim paper also, and colored the rest with copics.Hope you all have a wonderful day! SU! Friday

Another quick SU! card to share today...we're in the new house, but since I'm actually typing this early, I can't tell you if I've been in the pool yet!! :-)Today's card was created using the fun new level 3 hostess set The More the Merrier. It has these fun cupcakes, some pumpkins, snowmen and cute birds, along with some great greetings! I'm so happy my friend Michelle has it and lets me borrow her stamps!! :-)

I stamped the cupcakes with basic black on whisper white then colored them with the new in-color markers. I added some crystal effects to some of the cupcakes, and some beads as sprinkles. That is layered on crushed curry cardstock. The card base is the luscious new Melon Mambo, with some Razzleberry Lemonade dsp on top (scalloped the bottom with the scallop edge punch!) The greeting? The word window punch layered onto the new Modern Label punch. Cool, huh?? Of course to finish it off, I had to add some ribbon. Just LOVE this new polka dotted grosgrain in the in colors. YUMMM!I hope you have a wonderful weekend...hopefully we'll be all unpacked, and I can get out to see the new Harry Potter film! Gotta love to hate Snape! (I just finished re-reading book 6 in preparation for seeing the movie...so I"m full of Snape hate right now.)

Prettie Wednesday with an Everyday Object

2 Weeks ago Danielle challenged us all to use some household item to make this week's card. Since I'm in the middle of packing - there's quite a bit of bubble wrap around the house right now! And what set goes better with bubbles than Make a Splash??I inked up my bubble wrap with some Bashful Blue ink, then placed white cardstock over the top and brayered over that to insure good coverage. Hey...this turned out rather cool looking didn't it?! The card base is Rose Red, with another strip under the white organdy ribbon. Sophia was colored with Copics and SU! markers, and the water with my spica glitter pens to make it sparkle a bit more. She was cut with nesties, and the sentiment was cut with my oval punches.As usual for me right now, another quick card, but with a fun new technique thrown in...thanks Danielle!!

Happily Ever After

Well...moving day is almost upon us...and I still have a ton of packing to do so this will be brief!
Here's a quick little card I put together yesterday before I packed up all my craft stuff. I had colored the Sophia earlier, as I wanted to use some of the new in-colors on her (well, at least the new razzleberry - my favorite!!) She's mostly done with copics (amazing what you can do even with just a few colors, isn't it??) with just the SU! razzleberry marker for her shirt, and a few others for her book. She's the August Stamp of the Month...read here to see how you can get her delivered directly to her door, along with a new Sophia every month!!!
The card base is Night of Navy with a cuddlebugged layer of Bermuda Bay on top. The main image was cut with my nesties and layered on a scalloped oval of Razzleberry, and I used the new Razzleberry ribbon along wtih my nestie'd greeting. Pretty quick card, huh??

SU! Friday

Wow...2 weeks in a row, maybe I can really pull this off!

Today's card was made with the level 2 hostess set Wings of Friendship and the poppin' pastels technique. I stamped the bird image on some whisper white cardstock with versamark, then gently tapped some pastel color onto the image using the little sponge applicators. Then...I gently brushed the excess off with a soft bristled paintbrush.I stamped the swirls on the Ballet Blue card base, layered the main image onto some Regal Rose, and then tied my certainly celery wide ribbon around the card before attaching the main image with dimensionals. It was a very quick and easy card...perfect for that special friend!Have a wonderful weekend everyone...I'll be busy here packing!!

Moving Prettie Wednesday

2 weeks ago I got to challenge the Pretties...so I decided to challenge them to make a moving card. How it needed to be a moving card however, I did not specify. My card moves, and is for a person moving! And I was so busy packing last night...I forgot to get this uploaded then...SORRY I'm late!!!I started with Danielle's set, Home Sweet Home, and colored the house and moving van with copics (as always, thanks Jane!!) I cut out the house and some layers for it with my nesties, then assembled the next 2 layers down (going gray on basic black) and tied the black gingham ribbon on. After mounting my main image onto this layer, I used the word window punch to create my slider area. Finally, I cut out the moving fan, then used 2 dimensionals so that it wouldn't spin, but simply slide back and forth along the track I had created.I then mounted all that onto a Brocade Blue card using dimensionals, and Voila! I moving card, that moves!! :-)

Story Time bookmark

My wanderers return today. DH took DD up to the mountains for the long weekend, and they are driving home today. I can't wait!! Not only because I missed them, but because Jack missed them. He loves his big sister so much, I know he's really missed the extra attention she gives him!

I was thinking of her when I made this bookmark. She's starting to get into chapter books for her nightly reading, so I thought she'd like having her own bookmark - with a Sophia of course!

Story Time Sophia is the August Stamp of the Month. Don't know about our SOTM Club? Read all the details here, but in short you have hassle free delivery of a new Sophia every month - how fun is that?!? I colored Sophia in with Copics (Thanks again for hanging out with me Jane!!) then did some paper piercing all around. She's layered on Riding Hood Red, and the bookmark base is Pacific Point. I punched the saying with the word window punch, and finished off the bookmark with some Riding Hood Red striped ribbon. I know Julia will love it, and can't wait for her to get home so I can give it to her!!

Birthday Blog Hoppin Prettie Style

Happy 5th of July everyone... especially to our very own Charmaine who's birthday it is today!! We all hope you have a wonderful day today Charlie!!!

As usual, when celebrating a Prettie birthday, we've got a blog hop for the birthday girl. We started off with a morning Latte at Jodi's blog, so if you missed that please go back to start at the beginning - you wouldn't want to miss any of the fun creations we have for you today! If you just arrived from Jodi's...you're in the right place! I brought the beverages - adult for those who want it, baby friendly for those of us still nourishing little ones (like Charlie, Jules and me!)

I stamped our sweet Sophia and her faithful pup from Soakin' Up the Sun on whisper white with Palette Noir ink. I colored her in with my aquapainter and watercolor wonder crayons. Sophia's drink there is from the My Favorite Things set Hit the Beach. I used some Pixie Pink, Green Galore and dp to layer the card, and added some pink stitched ribbon from Mike's $ bin to finish it off.

SU! Friday

Ok...so I'm trying to do a little more blogging now that Jack is officially 9 months old. Not that I have much more time, but I have gotten several SU! cards made lately that I want to show off...so I thought I'd try to blog on Fridays now too for my SU! stuff.This first card is my mom's birthday card. Of course, I'm so behind I haven't even mailed it yet, and her birthday was 2 weeks ago!!! It's a super simple card made using the Lovely Flowers bundle level 3 hostess set. This paper is just so scrumptious!!! I used the new in colors, Rich Razzleberry , Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry, then just cut out part of the wonderful dsp, added a little dazzling diamonds to the flower centers, and tied on some ribbon. It was truly that easy. Prettie Masked Wednesday

So this week, the pretties are masking. I love masking images to create depth to cards...it's so much fun - although more cutting than I am normally willing to do. However, when I saw this studious little Sophia (reading a book about trees acording to Julia!) I decided she needed to be relaxing on the beach under a palm tree.Story Time Sophia (the August Stamp of the Month!) is on whisper white cardstock, I masked her then stamped the palm tree from Soakin' Up the Sun. I colored everything with the few copics I have, adding in with my SU! markers where I had to. I used Certainly Celery and Old Olive for my palm tree...gotta get some green copics next!! Oh...and I can't find my B00 marker right now, otherwise I would have added some sky to go with my sea. Guess I really need to clean off my desk, huh??

I went with a simple layout so the focus stays on the wonderful image, using kraft cardstock for the card base along with some Real Red to layer. Be sure to see what masking masterpieces the other Pretties have created! Next week everyone's doing my Moving challenge!!

Prettie Hula Sophia

Oh my...what a hot weekend it's been!! In a house with lovely skylights, old windows, and no insulation, it's just like being in a solar heated oven!Seeing this little hula girl makes me think of a cool island breeze...something I'd love to experience right now! I had so much fun coloring Sophia with Jane's copics last week. I loved the orange and peachy colors together...and the dark green was just right to set them off. I used Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie and Cameo Coral for the cardstock...and added lots of faux stitching along with my nesties, and a cuttlebug folder! It's a little busier than my normal card...but it was fun to keep adding more things.I hope you all have a wonderful week...thanks for checking in. Prettie Wednesday Animal Style

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope your week is moving along nicely. It's been interesting with Julia at camp so far...life still hasn't slowed down!2 weeks ago Julie (my fellow Mainer!) challenged us Pretties to do the same challenge her daughter had recently issued - make a card with an animal on it. That's pretty easy to do with Sophia and Cooper's adorable little dog. So here she is all dressed up for trick or treating with Cooper from the Pick of the Patch set. And I just love this sentiment with her...since what dog truly WANTS to be dressed up??
I used a mixture of Copic markers and ink pads with my aquapainter to color in the images after stamping them with Palette Noir ink on Whisper White cardstock. I then used some Old Olive CS to layer under teh image, and under my fun retro paper that Frances sent in my wonderful birthday package. All that is on top of a Pumpkin Pie card base. I added the sentiment, and some black gingham ribbon, and I was done!

Now it's my turn to issue a challenge...and since I will be moving just 3 weeks from today - and Christie actually IS moving today - let's all make moving cards. Take that any way you want to folks!!

Wiggle in my Hips

Wow...1 week of no school, and I've actually been getting things done!! My friends Jane and Michelle came over to play (with their 2 boys each!) on Friday and we actually got some crafting done. Not that Jack ever slept, but Julia had lots of fun with the boys...and I got to use Jane's Copics again!! I'm truly becoming hooked on these markers - and thank you Jane for my birthday present of 4 - I'm dying to use them!!I managed to get this little Sophia colored with Jane's markers while she was here, and put her together into a card on Sunday. Maybe I'll use this for my anniversary card coming up on Wednesday...I think my dh while appreciate it!! When Christie (our wonderful Prettie Mama!) told us this sentiment was what she had come up with for our Hula Sophia (July's Stamp of the Month), I almost PMP (Peed My Pants in case you don't know the lingo!) I mean...how perfect can you get for my husband?!? This is the man who CONSTANTLY makes double entendre statements, and I keep telling him Julia is 6.5 now, some day she WILL understand him, and he WILL be embarassed!

PW: Black and White and Red All Over?

I remember when that used to be one of the funniest jokes I knew. Unfortunately, my repertoire hasn't improved much with time! But, Frances challenged us all to make a black and white card with some red. I know, I copped out and used Wade...but he's so perfect for this color challenge how could I resist??Wade E. Bug was stamped with Palette Noir ink on watercolor paper, then colored in with the neutrals watercolor crayons, riding hood red ink pad and my aquapainter. He was then mounted on some riding hood red cardstock and then basic black. The white layer is from the SU! specialty cardstock set again, and I clipped the corners and adhered some pearls on to the black card base. Oh yeah...and that's the lovely velvety ribbon from a retiring Ribbon Originals set. LOVE it!!Thanks for the fun challenge Frances!! Hula Anyone?

Have you all SEEN the new stamp of the month for July??? Of course you have...and isn't she just the most adorable little thing you've ever seen?? I finally got a chance to play with her this weekend, and I combined a couple of old Prettie Weekly Challenges to get her done.I used PWC55 for the colors (Light Pink, Dark Pink, Brown and a color of your own choosing - I used green!) and PWC 54, a sketch challenge to create this little card. I used Chocolate Chip, Certaqinly Celery, Pink Passion and Pretty in Pink along with some whisper white for my cardstocks, and all those pens excepting the chocolate, and adding creamy caramel and blush blossom (oh, and my B00 copic of course!) She came together pretty quickly (thankfully, since Jackson was screaming for mommy by the time I finished...well honestly the last 20 mins - even with his daddy's best efforts!) Prettie Small Wednesday

This week's challenge was one I could really get into. Make a 3 by 3 card (LOVE those!!) with buttons (not my fav...but I can manage!) Thanks Christi!!

This week a 3 by 3 card is about all I can handle. It is Julia's last week of school, and I organized a project to make scrapbooks for each of Julia's 2 teachers and 1 teaching aide for the year. While staying quite simple...it still takes a lot of time to compile all these (but they are darned cute if I do say so myself...I'll try to post some photos!) So...even though I'm getting help, things are quite hectic to say the least!I made this card using a Sophia Ballerina image I colored with Jane's Copic markers almost 2 weeks ago (so glad I got a few done...need to get together with her again soon - Hey Jane, maybe I can color while the kids bowl!) I just had to cut her out with my nesties, layer her on some night of navy (don't you love all the little rhinestones I added? So much splashier than just piercing each bump!) Lastly, I added the little buttons in the corners. It was a quick, fun card. Perfect for my little girl's recital coming up. Speaking of which...wanna see a sneak peek of her in her recital costume? Guess I"ll have to do a scrapbook page with some of these pics and use little Sophia there!!!Isn't my baby gorgeous?!? I just love it!

Prettie Patriotic Monday

I should have had this card ready to post on Memorial Day, but as usual was late!

I recently picked up this American Flag dp at a stationary store, and thought it would be perfect for a card with our Lady Liberty Sophia stamp set. She looks so regal standing there...I just love this stamp!

I used my nesties as usual now, and colored Sophia in with my SU! markers (gotta get me some more Copics!!) As usual I went with a simple layout, but I love the addition of the silver cord frayed at the ends to give a fireworks like look.
Off to get ready for Julia's last week of Kindergarten...so much to get done this week!!! (Oh yeah, and get my stitches out so I no longer look like bride of Frankenstein!) Prettie Wednesday Butterfly

Sorry I'm late this morning...I spent all of yesterday recovering from Monday's procedure and didn't get this card finished until this morning's naptime. Thankfully, I already had a colored image from my play time on Friday with Jane's copics. And I hooked another one on Danielle's awesome new set Home Sweet Home at the same time!!Since Jessica told us we had to use a butterfly on our cards today, I decided to cut one out with my SU! sizzex die...and vellum cardstock seemed the perfect medium. I especially love my line of rhinestones down the butterfly's body - nice and sparkly! Danielle's set includes so many great sentiments, I thought this card would be perfect for an invitation to an open house.

Talking about Danielle, don't forget to check out her weekly challenge tomorrow...I think it's gong to be another fun one. I still haven't gotten a chance to do last week's sketch challenge...but I'm hoping to get to it soon!

Making a Splash Prettie Style!

Did you know that tonight, Monday, June 1st Paper Pretties is having our monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party!! The party starts at 8pm EST and will last until 10pm. We will be issuing only one challenge, so be sure to come and play along!! Besides the challenge, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing Make a Splash Sophia and introducing our new Stamp Of The Month. I'll most likely miss out on all the fun since today I'm having a basal cell carcinoma removed from my nose. Not the most fun...and with nursing can't even take any good drugs! Oh well!!For today's card, I used some SU! dsp I have around, and colored Sophia with my friend Jane's copic markers. She gave me several wonderful pointers as I was playing...and I love them now! And aren't these nesties just the best? And I even used some of the flower brads from SU! that I've been hoarding. I love this card...the colors are fun, and all the patterns are so summery. I hope you like her too...and that you have a wonderful time at the party tonight! Tie one on for me!! ;-)
