Happy Prettie Monday!

Hi everyone. Man...does the week just fly by for everyone these days? Seems like I just put up my Wednesday post and already it's Sunday night!!! Phil and Julia are off skiing today, so Jack and I have had fun just the 2 of us. We decided to have a Harry Potter marathon, and he's enjoying his first look at the movies, having endured my reading the books last month during nursing sessions! He's quite a fan don't you know?!

Today's card uses the sketch from LAST week's Prettie Challenge issued by Danielle. I love her challenges, and this week she's got another Mystery Color challenge for us all, to use Regal Rose, So Saffron and a third color of our own choosing on a card. Hmmm...think I'll have to try that one! Be sure to upload your challenge cards to the Prettie's Gallery so we can ALL see them, and you can get a chance to win a $5 coupon to the Pretties Boutique!
I used some new Basic Gray Marakesh papers, and let them determine the colors. I was so happy to discover how beautifully SU!'s Pacific Point goes with this paper. And even the Baja Breeze ribbon worked well. Gorgeous, no?

I'm very in love with the new corduroy buttons also...aren't the fabulous?? But of course, nothing compares to our lovely Hola Chica!! She will be the April Stamp of the Month, so be sure to sign up before the 31st to ensure you get her before everyone else - you can make some Cinco de Mayo cards! I stamped her on Very Vanilla and colored her in with my SU! markers.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Dancing with sketches

I am really loving this newest Sophia Ballerina. She is just so soft and sweet!! You can get her in March by joining the Stamp of the Month Club this month...otherwise you'll have to wait until April 1st to order her!!

During Taylor's 52nd Cupcake Challenge week, there were several sketches that I loved and had to try, and this one was created by our own Prettie Girl, Jackie Pedro! I decided the soft colors from Basic Gray's Two Scoops papers would work perfectly, and got to work.

The card base is GinaK's Pure Luxury 120 lb. white. I cut Sophia and the scalloped piece underneath with Nesties, and the sentiment was punched with my oval punches. I colored Sophia in with my SU! markers (not too bad, huh?) and added some sparkle to her skirt with my Spica clear glitter pen. I also included some more of these awesome sparkling heart brads Jackie R. sent to me in the upper right corner. Having the sketch made this a relatively quick card...and one I am really liking! I hope you enjoy her too!

What a Party, What a Night!

WOW! The forum was hoppin' last night...I couldn't keep up wtih Jackson in my lap for the first half, then having to sneak off and make/eat dinner then put Julia to bed for the 2nd half. But hey...it's almost 8am here and Jackson is still sleeping it off, so I can't complain! :-)

If you followed the blog hop, all the sneak peeks were revealed in the party forum last night, but if you missed it...here's mine! This little Sophia Ballerina is just so sweet. I truly love all the Sophias, and this is no exception. She is probably my 2nd favorite, after the Sophia in Snowflake Kisses - I just love snow angels!!!

Sophia is on some GinaK Pure Luxury White 80lb cardstock. I'm really liking this stuff...and I LOVE the 120 lb stuff!! She's colored in with SU! markers (gotta learn how to use Copics...then GET some!!) and cut out with my nesties. The scalloped piece is Pink Pirouette (perfect for our little ballerina!) as is the card base. The floral layer is from the Bella Rose DSP from SU!

I used WAY more accessories then I normally do on this card, but I wanted it to be "Fancy" (just like my sister, Nancy!) So I used 2 types of ribbon (May Arts polka dot organdy and SU! pink grosgrain) some flowers from the SU! pretties kit, and the metal bookplate from my silver hodgepodge hardware. Lastly, I used a tiny bit of stickles on the heart to give it a little shine.

This Sophia Ballerina is part of the Stamp of the Month club, and will be going out to all subscribers during the month of March! If you aren't a member, you'll have to wait until April 1st to order her...so bust a move and get on over there!!! Oh, and tell Christie I sent ya!!

Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail

Ok...so I'm only 2 days late! Here's my Prettie Friday post on Sunday. The card was done, but when I went to edit the images they were totally blurry. Then, it took me a while to figure out my camera's macro mode was on some weird setting so it wouldn't focus properly...but now I have good photos for you all!

This adorable Sophia is the February Stamp of the Month (SOTM). If you want to get her during the month BEFORE she's released to the general public, you need to join the SOTM club - and then you get a beautiful new Sophia delivered to your door every month before anyone else gets her! Isn't that cool??? It's almost like being on a design team. :-)

I used last week's Our Creative Corner sketch for the layout of my card - and I swear I did this even before seeing that my teammate Frances had done the same!! Guess great minds and all that.

I used some retired SU! Berry Bliss designer paper along with my old favorite Purely Pomegranate (amazing how pomegranates are the new IN fruit, huh?? That must have happened while I was in Europe!) I colored Sophia with my prismacolor pencils, which are fun to use again after such a long time without. I put the sentiment in some Hodge Podge Hardware and added a flower from the pretties kit along with my gingham ribbon. Overall it was a very simple card, but lots of fun to create.

So, while editing this photo I got a few others done, so I'll have more to post in the coming few days, don't worry. The only trick now is finding time when I have 2 available hands for typing because I'm just too verbose to type up a post one-handed!!

I'm Falling for You...

Here's the other card I managed to make using the new Falling For You set from Paper Pretties. I really love how the coloring on this card turned out (of course because I used my Prismas!) and I think she looks just like my cousin's daughter on this card. I think I'll have to send it to her!

I went with a fairly simple layout, but I added the linen thread to the corners of the main image to help it stand out a little more and frame Sophia in. I like the linen thread with these colors and image since it adds an additional touch of fall. I've added a close up photo of the main image below so you can see the colors even better...they come out so much brighter with the Prismas than when watercoloring!

For the sentiment I trimmed the strip of paper to 1/2" wide, then I punched the 2 ends with my 1/2" circle punch to round them out a little. Lastly, I sponged on some pumpkin ad chocolate chip inks to fade out the white a little and add some interest.

Have a great day everyone!

September SOTM Peek...

German Phrase of the Day: Herbst kommt. = Fall is coming. And with it, all the wonderful rich earthy tones that I love! I realize it's still a little ways off (further where I'm going!) but it will be here before we know it.

I used a color combo I found online (sorry, can't remember where) for this card, and decided to do a little color blocking as well. The 2 Close to Cocoa pieces are stamped with the flannel plaid background, the Really Rust piece with Paisley and the Certainly Celery piece with Aida cloth. But...it's the main image I love the most. Isnt' she just the cutest?? Sophia is busy raking up the leaves, probably so she and Cooper can jump in them. I know my brother used to rake all our leaves together and we'd jump in together. It was great fun!

I colored Sophia with my Aquapainter and WWC for this card since I don't have many earthy Prismacolor pencils yet...guess I'm gonna have to fix that soon! This Falling For You Sophia will be going out to all Stamp of the Month subscribers in September. She won't be available for purchase from the Paper Pretties Boutique though until October...so if you want her soon you'd best sign up! And don't forget to tell Christie I sent ya. I totally love this Sophia since she reminds me of my falls growing up in Maine. Fall in California just isn't quite the same. Oh well!

Have a wonderful day everyone...and I'll be back with my last post from Germany tomorrow.
