Taylored Expressions Sketch 106

Howdy everyone! I hope your weeks all got off to a good start. Julia is very excited because the eggs they have had in her classroom have started hatching...spring is definitely here!
Here's a card I stole a few moments to create yesterday using Friday's TE sketch #106. I had to pull out my fishbowl again because it's such a fun stamp. I really loved this week's sketch, and I pulled out some more of my new Kioshi paper from Basic grey. I also grabbed some buttons to add to the bottom...LOVE the buttons since I couldn't fit any ribbon on.
After coloring the image with copics I added some sparkle with my Spica glitter pens. I added some scales to both fish, and then I added some clear swirls to the water. And then I had to add a nice thick layer of crystal effects to the bowl. It actually warped the paper somewhat (I actually put the whole card together before adding the CE) and the warping actually makes the fish look like they are floating in the CE - very cool look!

Hope you all have a wonderful day...I'll be back tomorrow with 2 cards, my LaLa Land Crafts and Paper Pretties challenge cards!! See you all back here then.

I Dream of Stamping Color Challenge!

The first challenge for the I Dream of Stamping Winter Card Olympics challenges is a color challenge - to use either the olympic colors, or the colors from the flag of the team you are rooting for.

I decided to use the German flag colors, since they are who I root for when the US is not contending. The true flag colors are black, gold, and an orangey-red. I'm using Basic Black, Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry.I also am using the Taylored Expressions 100th sketch challenge sketch, along with some of her newest stamps, Fish in Love and the coordinating set Animal Love Sentiments. I got to use these sets for one of the make and takes and fell in love. I also used the Razzleberry lemonade dp from SU! along with some SU buttons. After coloring in my fish, I outlined both of them with Spica Glitter pens, then after stamping the sentimement, I cut it out with my circle nesties. Then, I added some crystal effects to the fish bowl to give it some shine and depth.

I hope you'll head over to the I Dream of Stamping blog and play along with us...we'll have another challenge posted over there on Tuesday evening! Happy President's day everyone!!

SFYTT Turtle Love!

I'm back again today with another card I created using Jen's Sketch For You to Try, Turtle Love! I purchased the turtles in love and a couple other single stamps along with the matching Animal Love sentiments set while at CHA last month (Didn't even KNOW they hadn't been released yet!!) and finally got to get them inky. The turtles are stamped on white cardstock, colored with my copics and then cut out. The card base is craft, with a layer of chocolate chip, and some new Green DCWV designer paper. This paper is 70% recycled, and is just beautiful! I created the bottom piece using my SU! edge punch then adding some chocolate chip satin ribbon. The heart is cut out with my nesties. For the inside of the card I used the adorable sentiment for this set, and then added the smooches and some punched hearts to the bottom.

Now I'm off to check out the 100th TE Sketch, and the new SFYTT. You'll be sure to see them BOTH here this week!

CHA Make and Take: Taylored Expressions

The second best thing about going to the CHA Supershow (after getting to meet so many amazingly talented people) was the make and takes!! Several of the stamp companies had free make and takes at their booths (and many also had make and takes at the splitcoast booth!!) I think the company I did the most with was Taylored Expressions, since they had 6 different ones at their booth, plus one at the SCS booth. I did a total of 3 of theirs (would have done more but Jackson was not that patient!!)I had never bought anything from TE before CHA, but don't worry...I fixed that right quick!! In fact, I bought several of the stamps they used for their make and takes (yes, their marketing worked great on me!) and can't wait to get them inky!! This card is one of my favorites, and I just love the sentiment that goes with this goldfish bowl. My friend Rachel helped me color the image (since Jackson was VERY fussy during this one!) and I love how it turned out! She did a fabulous job considering this was her first time using Copic markers. I can't wait to give this card to my husband - he'll love it!I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. We aren't peeking anything for Paper Pretties this week since we combined our January and February releases into one...so our next release will be March 1st. But be sure to check out the great sale going on (all acrylic stamps are currently 35% OFF - but this won't last much longer!) and the new DIGI stamps we have. Some of our older sets are being retired out of acrylic and rubber, but will stick around as Digital stamp sets, so you can still have all your old favorites.
