Amber Ink Bunnylove and Etsy!

Amber Ink is sponsoring this week's Etsy Inspiration Challenge, and we got to check out some gorgeous pieces for our inspiration! The inspiration comes from Fresh Metal, a shop with some amazingly beautiful necklaces featuring these fabulous rolled roses. I pulled some colors from the shop, along with the roses (I used the SU! satin roses from the current Occasions Mini that I colored with my Copic Airbrush system) and then I used the March Sketch For You to Try (also sponsored by Amber Ink this month!) for my layout.

Aren't these bunnies the cutest ever??? I colored them with some Warm Grays (W1, 3, and 5) since I learned to use the warm grays for living things...and I think they are much better than with the cools! after coloring them, I masked them then created the background with my copic Airbrush system. I used the Dizzy Edge DieNamic from MFT for my 2 horizontal strips for the sketch.

I finished off the inside with a sentiment from MFT's Warm Fuzzies. Be sure to play along with this month's SFYTT, you could win some Amber Ink stamps for your very own...and I'd love to see what you create for this week's Etsy Inspired challenge too!

Here's Jen Del Muro's sketch...on the off chance you haven't seen it yet!!

Squeeking in with a Feb. SFYTT

Last night while working on my Guest DT card I also squeezed in a card for the February Sketch for you to try. I Loved this sketch, and am so glad I finally got a card done with it. I used my previously uninked inspired by Butterflies set from MFT, and I wanted to stick with the blue of a Blue Morpho for my card.

I stamped the butterfly on vellum, then colored it from the back with a copic marker. I used some old SU! designer papers to go with the Pacific Point cardstock. Thanks for the great sketch Jen!!

Thanks for stopping by...I'll be back with more soon!

SFYTT, TCP Tuesday!

I really do have another TCP stamp...but I love this bear so much he keeps coming back out!! I'm anxious for this new release we're getting peeks of since I've seen a few I'd love in there!! I used TCP Tuesday #140's inspiration piece loosely, drawing the dark and bright colors from it! This month's SFYTT? Fabulous!

I pulled out some old DCWV Pet papers because I thought the paws in the hearts would look adorable with this bear, especially with this sentiment! And the colors reminded me of the inspirational hat. I stamped Big Bear on craft cs, then used some white craft ink and my aquapainter to add some white to the right side (light source) and then the kraft ink pad and aquapainter to add the shadows on his left. His ears and paws are done with brocade blue.

I tied some linen thread through one of my jumbo buttons and adhered it along with the sentiment flag for the circle element on Jen's sketch. I'm sure you all know that Jen has gone to monthly sketches, right? And this month TCP is sponsoring, so of course I had to pull out my TCP Stamps!
Have a wonderful Friday everyone!!

MFT's SFYTT

This week, Kim from MFT is sponsoring Jen's Sketch for You to Try - so of COURSE I had to play along! I pulled out my brand new Beach Bum PI girl and my equally new Oasis paper from SU! and had some fun.
I colored this little sweetie with my copics (of course) and than paper pieced her suit. Her sand castle is stamped on the new cork sheets from MFT. I thought it would be fun to have her holding the flag from the castle and I pieced that with some only orange cs then drew in the line for the stick. I added some buttons at the bottom and some ribbon to finish it all off.
I finished off the inside as well with a little more dp, the sentiment, and our little cuties pail and shovel.
Have a great day!

Flopsy gets Nekkid??

Last week Kim of My Favorite Things challenged us to use her cute Flopsey, but leave him NAKED - meaning we couldn't color him in with markers, pencils, anything - except we could paper piece him. I decided since it wasn't coloring him I could cover him with flowersoft and fluff!I used Jen Del Muro's SFYTT from Valentine's weekend for the layout, and some fun Good Neighbor paper from SU! for the sky and hills. I also stamped the tree from Love Birds and after coloring it with my copics I added some ultrafine flowersoft to create the cherry blossoms which are very abundant here right now! Flopsey's tummy and ear centers were covered with sparkly pink fluff and the rest of him was covered with Koala ultrafine flowersoft. As usual, I finished off the inside of the card too - it takes just a few more minutes but makes such a big impact! Ok...finished watching the Idol results show, and I think it's time to head to bed! Thanks for stopping by!

The need for speed....

I love things fast paced. I walk fast, I work fast, and I like to stamp fast. So for the final Winter Card Olympics challenge over on the I Dream of Stamping blog, we're doing a timed challenge. Create a card in 10 minutes (or 15 if you're handicapped with a sleeping baby on one shoulder or similar situation!) It's really fun to see what you can get done in such a short period of time. I was surprised! For my card I used the new Good Neighbor DSP from the Stampin' Up! SAB catalog along with the Trendy Trees stamp set and some gorgeous satin ribbon. I wanted the trees to represent 3 of the 4 seasons, so the cameo coral is like spring blossoms, then the summer green, and lastly the autumn leaves. For the leaves, I inked them first with More Mustard, then tapped around with my Ruby Red marker for some variation. I also used some punches to make it fast, and the wonderful Sketch for You to Try from this week - still gotta go back and do last week's...hmm!We'd love for you to play along with all our winter olympics challenges, so go check them out! You could win some fun prizes...and everyone who enters a card for ALL 5 challenges is qualified to win the grand prize!! OOOOoooooh!!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

SFYTT Turtle Love!

I'm back again today with another card I created using Jen's Sketch For You to Try, Turtle Love! I purchased the turtles in love and a couple other single stamps along with the matching Animal Love sentiments set while at CHA last month (Didn't even KNOW they hadn't been released yet!!) and finally got to get them inky. The turtles are stamped on white cardstock, colored with my copics and then cut out. The card base is craft, with a layer of chocolate chip, and some new Green DCWV designer paper. This paper is 70% recycled, and is just beautiful! I created the bottom piece using my SU! edge punch then adding some chocolate chip satin ribbon. The heart is cut out with my nesties. For the inside of the card I used the adorable sentiment for this set, and then added the smooches and some punched hearts to the bottom.

Now I'm off to check out the 100th TE Sketch, and the new SFYTT. You'll be sure to see them BOTH here this week!

SFYTT with Festive Favorites

German Phrase of the Day: Warum lachst du? = Why are you laughing? Possibly because I just love this snowman stamp...I think they are hilarious all standing around chatting to each other.

This card was made for Jen's Sketch for You to Try from LAST week, but I turned it on it's side. Yeah, I know, I'm a little behind! But, it is a Christmas card, so that part is ahead! I used my soon to retire Festive Favorites set (which I LOVE and will SOOO miss!) and since I don't have my tag punches anymore, I hand cut the tags for the top. Everything was colored with SU! markers, and I even used some retired SU! DSP. The trickiest part of the whole thing was stamping just the tag outline and then filling it in with the snowflakes for the middle tag...but I think it turned out pretty well!

Ok...back to work now. But...I did manage to finish up the stationary set for Julia's teacher's wedding gift this morning...only 3.5 hours...not bad! I'll post photos of that soon. Have a great day!

Supplies: (all supplies from SU! unless noted)
Stamps: Festive Favorites
CS: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Retired Seasons DSP
Ink: Basic Black, various markers
Acc: Ticket corner punch, word window punch, sponge, silver brads

TFL!

More PJ Stamping...

German Phrase of the Day: Ich bin ein bisschen muede. = I am a bit tired. But, I sure did have fun chatting with all the prettie girls and party attendees last night! Even my mom made a card (if I can just get her to send me a photo of it now!!!)

We had 3 awesome challenges from Charmaine, and I loved them all! You saw my first challenge card, a single layer card. Everyone was moaning about this, but I really love 1 layer cards, because you have to focus on your image and coloring - which is my favorite part! I think 1 layer cards can be the most elegant cards out there. And be sure to check out the others that were made...Jillian's and Julie's knocked my socks off!!

The second challenge was a monochromatic card. For this card I used Jen Del Muro's Sketch for you to Try. I love making tall cards, but hadn't done it in quite a while, so I was happy to get back to them again. I used my Berry Bliss paper and a nested oval and scalloped oval for the main image. I stamped Sophia with my Brilliance Graphite black ink, then colored her in with my aquapainter and watercolor crayons. I pieced her dress from the backside of the bottom paper (Actually, she's worn that dress before...on THIS card!! LOL)

The card base is chocolate chip (it's a neutral, right??) with stamper's select white on top. I adhered the dsp before putting the white down, th en I sanded all the edges of the piece so there's a tiny bit of a white edge all around that layer.

My FAVORITE part of this card though is for certain the ribbon slides. These are from the new SU! Occasions mini and are part of the new Stylized Silver HPH kit. I'm kicking myself right now for not ordering more when they were available to demo's as bulk order items - they're all sold out now! :-( Patty Bennett had a wonderful tutorial on her blog for how to color the inside part of these using a mixture of crystal effects and reinker. Well, as you all know I"m lazy, and I didn't want to take the time to mix up my own special CE, so I grabbed a bottle of stickles and used that. It's FABULOUS!! I think I may only have 3 or 4 ribbon slides left - oh the horrors!! I'll for sure have to get more because this was just too fun! I'll post my sketch challenge card later this week...but if you just can't wait it's up on the forum! :-)

Supplies: (all supplies are SU! unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Cuddle Me from Paper Pretties
Ink: Brilliance graphite black
CS: Stamper's Select White, chocolate chip, purely pomegranate, Berry Bliss dsp

Acc: aquapainter, WWC, pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon, stylized silver HPH, pink stickles, oval nestabilities
