Happy Cupcake Day!

German Phrase of the Day: Gestern war ich Tennis spielen. = Yesterday I played tennis. Anyone who knows me at all knows I don't play tennis. I've never played, although I think it might be fun to learn. Who knows, maybe when I'm old I can take up tennis. ;-) Who am I kidding!!

This is a card I made a while back for Kim's (The MFT Lady) birthday. Kim is a WONDERFUL person, and I so enjoyed getting to meet her when I was in Florida this past February. I hope I'll get to see her at the next Winter CHA as well! I've already told my husband I'm going to Anaheim whether he likes it or and all! :-)

For the card I first cut the Pretty in Pink card base. It started as a 4.25" square then I trimmed up the sides a bit to form the base of the cupcake. I then took some Basic Gray paper and crimped it to make the cupcake paper. For the frosting, I freehand cut some ovals out of whisper white cardstock which I brayered with Pretty in Pink ink, then embossed with iridescent ice ep. I put dimensionals in the center of each layer, and used sticky strip around the outer edges to puff the middles out a little and give it all some more dimension. For the cherry, it also started as a whisper white circle which I brayered with Real Red and then embossed with ii ep. For the stem I used some natural hemp which I colored with my real red marker. The finishing touch was this wonderful American Crafts ribbon onto which I stamped the sentiment from MFT's Icing On the Cake stamp set with Brilliance black ink.

I hope your birthday was an awesome one Kim, can't wait to see you in January!!
