Julia's Leaves...

The latest challenge on the Children's challenge blog was to create something with leaves...either real leaves, stamps, etc. Julia decided to make some art using real leaves...and I love how it turned out!
She went out and picked some leaves from our bushes out front with her Nana, then glued them on some black cardstock.

Julia's bookmark..

Julia made a bookmark to participate in the most recent Children's challenge using my new Star Boy Luka from LaLa Land stamps. Isn't it awesome?? she's getting so good at cutting out her images...and she used two shades on his hair to add some shadows!! She also added Luka's fun dog, Tuffy!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Happy Birthday to...Me!

Thank you to all the Prettie Girls and many of the La-La Ladies for your beautiful cards!! I love them all!! To see the Prettie hop, start at Prettie Mama Christie's blog and hop all the way through - they're all gorgeous! For the La-La wishes, head to the La-La Land blog which has links to Kim, Jane and Elena's cards (masterpieces all!)

Also, many thanks for the various cyber-wishes, a couple RAK's (JenniK and Sony from the MFT Junkies list - thanks ladies!) and to my wonderful friends Michelle and Jane for the wonderful lunch, gifts and cake today. You all have helped to make my birthday a wonderful one!
Now, here's the birthday card my Julia made for me...isn't it beautiful?? She also made it for the Children's Challenge blog current challenge, to use 2 or 3 buttons on a project. she colored all the pieces herself (since she was too impatient to wait for me to get her any scraps to use!)
After I took the first photo she picked it up and held it at an angle and said "You have to take it from this angle too!" so of course I did!

Guest Blogger Julia

German Phrase of the Day: Ich habs gemacht! = I made it!

Mommy gave me this stamped image to make a card with. I put a piece of paper on the other side next to the cowboy girl after I colored her in. I stuck a piece of ribbon on her tie so it would look kinda like real cowboys. When I wrote my name on it I wrote my full name (Jana's note: her own spelling!) and when I wanted to make it I already had the image in my mind. And when I got the image in my mind after the card was made I asked mommy if she could put some ribbon on there. See the gingham ribbon on the side? Mommy tied that bow for me.

Sometimes Auntie Prettie sends me some of my own stamps, and I like that.

Thanks for looking at my card.

(Note from Jana: I typed what Julia told me for this post [including the German Phrase of the Day] and she typed her own name at the end. I love how she spells Susanne, and I image her 2 grandmothers [where the name came from] will love it too! Pretty impressive for 5.5, huh???)

Card by Julia (my daughter!)

German Phrase of the Day: Was sind deine Hobbies? = What are your hobbies? My wonderful 5 year old daughter Julia has many hobbies. Gymnastics, dancing, rollerblading, playing barbies / vet / legos / animals / you name it! But one hobby we share is crafting. I love it when she says to me "Mommy, can we go upstairs and do a craft together?"

On Friday afternoon we did that, and she wanted to make a special card. We have a good friend turning a significant age this month, and Julia thought it would be fun to make her a card. She wanted to use one of my MFT stamps, and she chose the women at the cafe. Next, she wanted a cake, on the cake plate. Once everything was stamped on the paper, she took it to her own desk to color and cut out. Then, she chose a color for the card base and I cut it for her, and she selected some ribbon and attached it herself! When she was done she was very pleased with herself and said "Mommy, I really want you to put this on your blog." I mean, how could I resist? She's quite irresistible when she's being cooperative (and I got 2 cards done while she worked on that - of course, I can't show them yet...sorry!) So, here is Julia's card - I even made her her own watermark! She would LOVE it if some of you left comments for her!

And now, since it is quarter past midnight and I have been awake since 5:30 am, I am going to bed. My friend Karin and I finished 2 of last nights challenges before heading to Pipoos and running other errands (she slept in lucky girl!) and then we just did the first 6 of Saturday's challenges. Phew... I'm tired! We have 10 more to do before she leaves Monday afternoon, so I think we'll be busy tomorrow!!Goodnight!!
