Guess what I"m doing this morning?? I'm FINALLY going to meet fellow Prettie Girl and San Jose resident
Jackie P!!! I can't believe I've been living in San Jose for 6 months and we still haven't managed to meet up in person yet - shame on me! But today, we finally will! Guess I ought to bring my camera, huh? I suppose a Barista will be happy to take our photo! ;-)
On to this week's project. 2 weeks ago
Jillian challenged us all to make a project that we love. We've changed things up a bit with our prettie challenge creations, and now some of them get sent to other prettie girls, some get sent to charities seeking cards, and others we get to keep for our own use. Since this was a week we get to keep for our own use, I decided to use this as an opportunity to get working on Julia's valentine.
I'll start off by telling you that my mom used to stay up all hours of the night before Valentine's day making valentines for myself, brother, sister and dad. She would use posterboard (like 11 by 14 or so sometimes!) and then cut things out of magazines and using construction paper and doilies etc. make these amazing Valentine's for us. They were truly works of heart...and I so wish I still had one of them today. Unfortunately, I wasn't as sentimental (or pack ratty) back then. But I do know how much I loved getting those Valentines.

Today, I have far more resources paper crafting wise than my mom had 30 or so years ago (OMG - 30! did I really say that?!?!) I started with this Colorbok (you'd think I would have figured out the keystroke for an oomlot by now but NOOooo, I'm too lazy!) heart shaped chipboard book from Mike's 1$ bins (I only bought 5 of them...wasn't I good?!) I covered it with paper from the Bella Rose collection (yup, still hooked on that paper!) sanding the edges and then sponging them with Bravo Burgundy ink. Next, I stamped
flutter by Sophia onto some white cardstock and colored her in with my SU! markers. I stamped her again on the opposite side of the dsp used to cover the heart and paper pieced her dress. After coloring the flower and her jewelry with my Spica glitter pens, I cut her out and adhered her to the heart. Then, I stamped the word LOVE from an old retired SU! set, and hand wrote the rest to read "Things I LOVE about you!"
Now, on all the pages to follow I will include different things that I love about my little girl. I have managed to finish one of them, and it says "you make me smile" and includes a photo of me smiling. Now to finish the rest of the pages before Saturday...hmmm...I see a few late nights coming up myself!

Be sure to check out the amazing creations of the other
Prettie Girls, and then go make something special for the people that YOU love!
