April Showers bring...
SPRING! This month's MFT Guest Designer contest was all about Spring! I immediately knew what I wanted to do...but I wasn't sure how to accomplish it. While this didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned it, I am still pretty happy with it.I started with the little Umbrella Girl and stamped her a few times (yes, I watched Joanne's video today about how she does her paper piecing!) After coloring her in with my copics, I pieced her umbrella, boots, and coat, then added her hands, collar and the umbrella handle over the coat. Then, I added crystal effects onto the coat, boots and umbrella. I cut out the middle section of the umbrella again, and added it on top of the first, then added another layer of crystal effects onto that to give it even more dimension. Lastly, I added some stickles to the rain lines. She was cut out with an oval nestie, and layered on the same smoky teal textured cardstock as the card base (purchases at my LSS). For the layers on the card, I used some Imaginescence dp (the clouds) and the green polka dots (also used for paper piecing) are from the Nana's Kitchen glitter stack from DCWV. I layered those on white, then tied on the ribbon and added a buttony bow with some linen thread. The sentiment I created on the computer since I did not have any stamps with the right words. For the inside I wanted to create something that screamed spring and flowers. I made this pop-up floral "archway" using a nestability to cut out the center part, then I clipped the corners with a Martha Stewart corner punch. I stamped the Pure Innocence Flower girl and colored her with copic markers, then added some more green paper for the Nana's Kitchen stack trimmed to resemble grass. Lastly, I added the rest of the sentiment punched withthe word window and layered onto the modern label punch, and added some baby bradlets before attaching it to my floral archway. For the bottom part of the inside, I just used white cardstock with a strip of the green (to continue the grass) and then I stamped the tulips from an old MFT Easter set I got 2 years ago, the first time I met Kim. I colored them in with my copics, and at last I was done!I hope you've enjoyed this card as much as I have - and I'll be back tomorrow with my Prettie Wednesday challenge card! Have a good one!

ReplyDeleteSuper cute... love how you worked with the inside. Very creative and simply adorable!!
ReplyDeleteJana, your paper piercing is wonderful -- and I thought that before I read you'd watched the video! (So did I) Seeing your rendition I realize one of my problems (maybe my biggest problem) is choosing the patterned paper with the right scale. This green with polka dots is PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteOh wow...I just love these gals! Can't get enough of them...love what you do with 'em!
