German Phrase of the Day: Morgen wird es regnen. = It will rain tomorrow. Actually, I don't know that for sure, but given where I live, it's quite likely! :-)
For today's Prettie Peek, I used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #38. Since Cambria had posted hers early, I was able to get this done this morning while you all were asleep. I have to take advantage of these time differences however I can! :-)
For this card, I wanted to use some of my Bo Bunny paper from the Prettie Boutique. I loved these stripes and polka dots together...and I decided they would be perfect for this sketch. I sponged ALL the edges (it is for Beate after all!) and layered the patterned paper onto Pretty In Pink, which was then layered onto a Chocolate Chip standard card. I used my new Flutterby Sophia for the main image (isn't she adorable?) masking her and then stamping an oval to ground her. Speaking of Masking...Jillian just made an AWESOME tutorial on both masking and making scalloped edges for your cards. It's in the Prettie Forum, so go check it out! Unfortunately, my husband has very high quality printer paper, so it's a little too thick to use for making a mask. I should have used my Eclipse masking tape...NEXT time! The oval I used is NOT from the new Sassy Circles set. For some reason, Deutsche Post must not like me because I'm waiting on SEVERAL things right now. I like the Sassy Circles oval better...you can see it here on Joanne's blog.
I colored her in with my Prismacolor pencils again, and blended it all with stumps and gamsol. I'm really loving that way of coloring lately...especially since I don't have to use watercolor paper or super thick paper for it! Allows me to use up my whisper white cardstock!! :-)
Lastly, I added the felt flowers and the faux photo corners. My SU! photo corner punch stopped working a few months ago, and while I did take it back to Florida with me, I never did call SU! about it (yeah, I know...not bright!) Anyway...I just made my corners using the 3/4" punch and the 1 3/8" punches...worked out just fine. However, I will be glad to get a new photo corner punch since it's much easier...and I think looks better!
Oh....and I made 1 more card for the My Favorite Guest Designer contest last night. I wanted to use Punny Farm, and I thought of having jumping sheep. The sentiment says Schlaf Gut which means "Sleep well" which I thought went well with the sheep. I stamped the sheep on Soft Sky cs, then colored in their wool with my white gel pen. If you look at the sheep close up, you can even see a curly design to their wool...it looks way cool!
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday, and I hope to "see" many of you Sunday night (8pm EST) in the Paper Prettie's forum for our Stamping In Your Jammies launch party. Be there or be circle...er...square! (Sorry, I know, it wasn't really that funny, but I tried!)

Jana, both cards are sooo cute! I love the paper and stamps from the first card and the sentiment on the second card.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit startled that you are already posting a card for my sketch when I haven't even posted it yet. LOL
Very neat card Jana! I love your coloring - those pencils are so fun, huh? The sheep are adorable too! :) "See" you Sunday night crazy lady! :)
