German Phrase of the Day: Ich bin noch einmal krank. = I am sick again. Man...how many times do I have to get this nasty cold and horrid soar throat?? I went to the doctor yesterday and got more antibiotics. I also threw out my toothbrush this morning...so hopefully that will help in preventing this nasty thing from coming back! I was out for the count yesterday, didn't even read any blogs let alone post anything...sorry!
I'm back today with a card from Jillian's Prettie Girl Wednesday challenge 2 weeks ago. Of course, have I mailed it yet? Nope!! Sorry Jillian...I'll try to get it on it's way this week! Jillian's challenge was to use stripes. Well, I LOVE stripes, so that was easy. I used this awesome Memory Box Beach Collection in 6 by 6 from the Prettie Boutique. It's so cool, because on the reverse side is the same pattern, but in reds and yellows. Of course...those aren't colors I use much, so I've been sticking with the blue and green side mostly. Perhaps I'll have to push myself to make a red and yellow card...whatchya think? For the image I used an image Joanne sent me from the Pun Fun set (oh...and Jo has some blog candy right now, so go check it out!!) I'm really loving this set, and will probably break down and get it myself eventually! For now though, I thought this was a good one to use for Jillian because she's been sick a lot lately too!!
I've also got another Prettie Challenge card for you all today. This is a card I made for last week's Weekly Challenge on the Paper Pretties Forum (if you haven't signed in over there yet, what are you waiting for? We have TONS of fun!!!) Joanne challenged us all to make a card using the colors from her recently re-modeled kitchen as a starting point. Well...that was fun!
The card base is Kraft cs, followed by a layer of black, then a layer of cranberry crisp stamped with the hearts background from the Sealed with a Kiss stamp set with the same color. I just LOVE those little hearts!! For the main image, I stamped Lexi and Luke onto the precut oval, then colored them with my prismacolors, OMS and stumps. I'm really enjoying this "new to me" coloring medium!! Then, I layered them onto a nestabilities cut black scalloped oval. Next, I pulled out my new Silver Hodgepodge Hardware kit from the occasions mini and stamped Pucker Up! onto some scrap white cs to stick in there. Lastly, to finish off the card I added some black narrow organdy ribbon with a little bit of silver cord to tie it all together. This was such a wonderful challenge!! Can't wait to show you all some of my "anything but a card" samples... but first I'm going to have a Prettie Peek for a you a little later today. I think I'm finally well enough to do some stamping this afternoon, so I'll be back with a peek a little later on!
