Snowflake tri-fold card

German Phrase of the Day: Es tut mir leid. = I am sorry. This is the more formal way of saying I'm sorry, for when you are sorry for something you have done, like "I am sorry I didn't get the house clean because I was too busy stamping" for example! ;-)

Here's another card I made for VSN last weekend. The challenge here was to make a card with an interesting fold, so I thought a Cami trifold would be fun. Beate has a fabulous tutorial for these over on SCS, and once you've done a few they are SUPER easy!

I've been going through my projects getting some things uploaded for while I'm in Florida, and I realized I haven't posted a Snowflake card yet. I've shown you other things from this set, but not this adorable little penguin. Isn't he just so sweet?? I really love this little guy!

I started with Blue Bayou textured cardstock and folded it according to the directions. Next, I punched a scalloped circle of soft sky cs with my Marvy Giga punch and adhered that to what would be the front panel. Then, I opened my card up and used my coluzzle to cut a circle out of both layers of blues. Next, I took some watercolor paper and placed it on the inside layer where it would be and penciled in the circle of the opening, then stamped snowflake in the center so I knew he'd show through. After coloring him in, I adhered him down.

I stamped the snowflakes in various places on the Bayou Blue cs with Bayou Blue ink, then added the little Penguin prints across the bottom just inside the card (see photo 2) When I first got this stamp set in the mail from Christie I had NO IDEA what this stamp was. I thought it was some sort of weird looking holly, and I felt too dumb to ask anyone. Then, I saw this card of Julie's and realized, OHMYGOSH, those are Penguin prints...how cute is that?!?! Those guys are so brilliant!!

To finish off the card, I stamped the large snowflake in blue bayou on soft sky and cut it out. I added some dazzling diamonds to the open areas, then put star shaped rhinestones on each point and a rhinestone brad for the center, then I popped it up on the outside. At this point it had been 45 minutes and my time was up, but had I had more time I would have added some ribbon to the closure. However, I really enjoyed this challenge! And I'm glad I finally showed you Snowflake!

Oh, you and I are in the same boat, b/c I was looking at your card thinking "How the heck did she make those penguin prints?" and then I said "Duh. They must be an image that I hadn't discovered yet" that stamp set is CHOCK full of goodness!!
