Blog Bon Bons

I recently found the book Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik for sale at a bookstore in Dusseldorf for only 5 euros - and it was in English! :-) Since I had heard it was fun, I bought it, and LOVED it. While living in California, I was in a book club with some really neat women, but there weren't my closest friends. And while I enjoyed that book club...the group in Angry Housewives definitely had more adventures!!

So, in honor of Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons, I'm giving away some Blog Bon Bons!! This time, I'm including a box of genuinely scrumptious Lindt Mini Pralines, some metal edged vellum tags, a Michael's spool of ribbon, my most favoritest card ever, and one of my paper shaped Big Blossoms (winner gets to choose any of the 54 current SU! colors!)

To enter to win this delectable prize, leave me a comment and tell me what book you have read in the last 3 years that is your favorite. (I'm looking for suggestions - my husband always comes home from the US loaded with books and craft supplies!) I will randomly select a winner by drawing on Saturday morning German time, so you have until about midnight on Friday (3/16) California time to enter. And may the luck of the Irish be with you! :-)

TFL!

  1. It's a light read, but very good and it's actually a series - the author is Emily Giffin and the two books are "Something Borrowed" and the second one is "Something Blue". Her newest one is called "Baby Proof" but I have not read that yet.

Another GREAT book (and I'm a dog lover) is "The Dogs of Babel" by Carolyn Parkhurst - I read the entire book on my flight to Montreal a few years ago.

I also enjoyed My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult - oh heck I have so many favorite books it's hard to pick....much like stamp sets!

    Great blog candy!!!

  2. I love reading. I haven't read the book you mentioned, but I've added it to my list. One of my all time favorite reads are the books by Diana Gabaldon. They are the Jamie and Claire series, The Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber--all the way to Snow and Ashes. They are an excellent series, and definitely worth the lengthy read.

For light reading I'd suggest Janet Evanovich. Her books are mysteries, and ar hillarious! I have to watch where I read them as they make me laugh out loud. Grandma Mazur is a hoot, and Ranger is so HOT!

Thanks for posting the candy. What a sweetheart you are.

  4. I love James Patterson and just read Judge & Jury which he co-wrote with Andrs Cross. Another author I love is Kyle Mills and have just started called The Second Horseman. And for fun and easy reading I go for Janet Evanovitch.

  5. Well, my oldest child will be turning 5 next month (I also have 2 younger ones) so my reading list since she was born is quite short! I have re-read my favorite book a few times. Desperation my Stephen King. I know he's a bit weird for some people but I love how you know exactly what everything looks, sounds, and smells like from his books!

I hope to expand my reading once my 1 year old becomes about 3 maybe. But for right now it's playtime, homeschool, eating, bath time, and when I get some time to myself, usually stamping.

Thanks for the chance at this awesome blog candy! I have never even eaten a bon bon. Awful huh?

  6. I LOOOOVE to read and my favorite is a series...Harry Potter. It just opened up a whole new world of reading for me. I'd never read anything remotely close to fantasy. I love all these other books that these ladies have talked about too! My favorite author right NOW is Jodi Picoult. Her new book "Nineteen Minutes" just came out and I bought it and started reading it yesterday. I struggle with...read? stamp? read? stamp? read? stamp???? Just not enough time in a day!
Thank you for your wonderful blog!!!

  9. I don't read as much as i used to with stamps and kids! I think The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren was a great book. I've read it 3 times and highlighted in 3 different colors!

I enjoy checking into your blog daily and seeing what you're creating. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'd love to have one of your flowers and all the rest of your blog bon bons.

  10. Thanks Jana for the heads-up...Blogger has been acting up for the past little bit so I have been working on making it act the way it is supposed to (esp. since I am entering in all my posts manually in HTML!). Hmm...reading, eh? I have subscriptions to Vanity Fair and the Atlantic Monthly since that is all I seem to have time for. I did like the book by Alison Pearson titled "I Don't Know How She Does It". It has a funny opening page where she is "distressing" store-bought tarts to prove to the other moms at her kid's school that they are homemade...amusing!

  11. Along the same lines, an easy read is "The Next Big Thing" by Johanna Lindsey.

Currently reading, "Lisey's Story" by Stephen King, which has me totally engrossed. Need to do 2 cards, but I'm reading instead.

I also read James Patterson and Janet Evanovich. I would love to get Big Blossoms and tags!

  17. WOW I haven't read in a long time.. when I do pick up a good book though, I'll read it every waking moment till I'm finished (I don't have kids though, lol!) Lately, I've been reading more cookbooks than anything. I would say the last favorite book that I read was Wicked. My mom saw the show & shared the book with me :D

  19. I can't figure out what I love more, you bon bons or your category!!! I think I just won with just the category!! I love books and if I catch an author I speed through their stuff then desperately look around for more. I'll definitely have to come back and check everyone's recommendations!

    Moving on...

I love Nora Robert books more the more recent ones. Her mysteries under J.D Robb is quite good too.

Dan Brown books are excellent. Everyone knows "the DaVinchi code" but my favourite was "Digital Fortress" follwed by "Angels and Demons".

For politics I like Frank Rich's book "the greatest story ever sold" a bit biased (okay a lot biased) but interesting read.

For humour Paul Reiser wrote two hilarious books "Couplehood" and "babyhood". Plus Jerry Seinfeld's "Sign Language". Both are very funny and clean. Oh Bill Cosby books are good too.

Of course Harry Potter, enough said right?

All right gonna stop now!! Obviously you hit a nerve!!! Happy reading and stamping! Need a way to figure out multitask the two, the day just doesn't have enough time!!!!

  23. One of my favorite books is The Corrections by Jonathen Franzen. It's about a dysfunctional midwestern family. I love stories about families and their interactions and how they've "survived." Basically most families are screwed up ;)

Can I suggest another one? Heat by Bill Buford. It's about a writer who decides he wants to cook and becomes an apprentice to Mario Batali. If you love food, Italian food, and cooking - read this !!

  38. In the last while, I've really got into Neil Gaiman's books. They are a type of fantasy, and anyone who enjoys role playing games will enjoy them! Also those with an English background, and those who love extremely clever, clever ideas.
Try the brilliant "Neverwhere", the creepy "Coraline", clever "Smoke and Mirrors", or the intriguing "Stardust".
Can't wait to read the rest of his books!

  43. I wish I had more time to read, but about 6 months ago I finshed all 3 of the Jenny McCarthy books. My fave was Life Laughs: Naked Truth about Motherhood, Marriage, and Moving on. It was refreshing, for a change, to hear someone be so raw honest...there was no sugarcoating anything! Like I said I dont' have a lot of time to read, but these books are such easy reads that I read all 3 within about a week.

  44. Wow, you are in Germany? I've never even been to Europe let alone Germany:)

One of my favorite mystery authors is Sydney Sheldon, anything he's wrote is a keeper.

Another mystery type is Harvey Corbin or it maybe Harlin, not sure having a mental block, but he has written some really good ones, the titles escape me, but if you email me, i'll look at home and reply back with the correct titles as well as his name.

I absolutely loved the book "Marley & Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog" by John Grogan. I know "they" say don't judge a book by the cover by I fell for the cover (adorable puppy!) and the book was excellent. I had to be careful where I read though...it made me laugh and cry!
